Photo Booth

#acoustic #singersongwriter #xmas I got this idea for a Christmas breakup song when I attended a holiday function this past month, where they had a photo booth. As if we needed another Christmas song. 😀 I wrote down the title, and I scribbled down an idea for a chorus last month. It's a fictional story about a Christmas-time breakup that happens after a couple has their picture taken at a holiday party. The man is looking back on this years later. Sad one to begin the year, but it just came out this way. Not based on any ones real experience.
Lyrics
The two of them took their place in line against the wall , outside at Christmas time They could hear the music from a midnight mass of a choir singing tunes from their past
The photo booth was dark inside but the flash of light starts to hurt their eyes When the photos came out, they checked their smiles but the look on her face showed a trace of a lie
Refrain: In the Photo Booth, She couldn’t hide She couldn’t stay with him, hard as she tried
Now the years have past since that Christmas time and the memories comeback like the wind and the chimes when he sees the photo, pinned on his back wall he’s back to that year, its not hard to recall
He told himself he has moved on in life He’s made a family home with his wife But he thinks of her at this time of year It never goes away, when he feels the cold air

The story has a bit of a sad feel yet the history of a family and a wife make the guy long for a past life. The story is very well expressed by the tone of the vocals and you bring the song to life. Good job T!
Really like that guitar playing/riff. Very expressive. I love songs that zero in on a moment and all of the implications it can have. I can totally picture these characters, especially him. The recording and sound of the guitar also sounds very winterish to me. Great way to kick off FAWM!
These lyrics really paint a picture…or a photo as it were. I like the reverb choices, gives it a narration-from-afar vibe
Brilliant use of a Photo Booth as a feature in a break up story. The photographic evidence of a lie and the recurring memory brought back to the event by wind chimes and the cold. Great story telling and a great start to FAWM 2026!
i love your playing! your intro and bridge stick out to me especially :) very memorable narrative being told as well. first swing of 2026 is a home-run!
Great sad story, well played and the vocals match well. Nice work! And, yeah, we could always use another Christmas song!
