A Question of Faith

Liner Notes
This one is for the Movie Title Challenge. I got "The Forty Year Old Virgin" - I have never seen the movie but believe it might be "of its time".
I got to thinking in what circumstances might there be a 40 year old virgin today and the answer came in a couplet I woke to this morning:
"Sean's mother had groomed him for the priesthood His older brother Pat would get the farm!"
The rest then just came together as Sean seemed to tell me the rest of his story himself. #ukulele

Such a creative story, loved the journey, and the futility of parents trying to guarantee their futures on their kids life. Sometimes you just have to save yourself. The melody was great, and you can feel the emotions in the delivery.
A lovely story bound in the melody that seems a little ominous. Loved the happy ending. The lyrics flowed with the melody effortlessly. A good song.
The storyteller returns. Clever use of the prompt. you could almost do a thesis on this! a really good listen
Terrific uke sound, and really terrific storytelling here, compellingly supported by your semi-detached, semi-sardonic vocals. It's a happy tale, plainly told, and ever so satisfying.
Love how the story unfolds on the fate of Sean and a nod to him following his authentic path in love. Beautifully rendered love song ballad!
Nice use of the ballad form for a story of nature vs. cultural conditioning.
What a killer opening line. Also this little nugget is so theatrical: "His mother beamed at his ordination Her pride and his humility were one"
oh and this one: "That he'd been denied such pleasure gave him pain"
And phrases like "cosy lies" and "convinced virgin" really stuck out to me
Great lyricism overall
now thee's a love story for ya. i love the way you tell it..the way it unfolds and..of course, the happy ending.
YOU are insanely funny and brilliant, Berni. I cracked up by the middle of the first line. The setup was all there in that one line. It only got better and better from there. Your storytelling is without a doubt your greatest super power. How do you come up with these lines????? "At (Eb) forty he was still a convinced (Gm) virgin But his (Eb) dreams were filled with his Altar Server, (Gm) Finn" "They both renounced positions in the priesthood With their savings bought a flat on the Catalan (F) coast"
AND the elephant in the room is...it happens all the time. Yay for the lovers!!! Yay for you!!!!
excellent story and nicely done - can't beat a ukulele
