Liner Notes

David (@mctown) sent me these quirky words before FAWM and asked me to figure out the music, like I do... I'd've done it sooner, but as you know, things and life can get in the way. No worries, David said it'd be okay to use my procrastination as a FAWM opportunity. #collab #countryfolk #acousticguitar #harmonica

Lyrics

My love’s scabbed over since we broke Off that scary, stupid thing She even gave me back that money I borrowed to buy her a ring I can’t say much or that lawyer Might swing on back by But you saw where it was going And know it ain’t no lie

Southern circus got hot and left us feeling rather determined Money might buy her back but it'd leave my heart a-hurting A man ought to grow up and forget all that sweet cotton candy But when that circus train stops it makes a man good and randy Man buys his ticket, Lord knows he’d not miss it, ’til he kisses it… A big goodbye, come and gone, Oh oh… you know…. It’s A Southern Circus Song… A Southern Circus Song….

Sure a fool can learn from watching All of those wicked acts And when something’s wicked You know a man better learn fast ‘Cause a three ring circus always needs Someone for that clown car Gypsy knows your fortune And knows the ways of a heart

That calliope is a wonder The way it drowns out the thunder Feels like some kind of magic spell you’re under.. (Spoken) and of course Sometimes a man blunders onward…

brilliant song, love the words as I know mctown from another music site! Harmonica is cool, nice acoutist gtr and the vocals superb right tone for the song, almost want to put some licks on piano!

Dylan would be proud of that harp sound. Love the striped back country folk feel. Vocal suits the topic really well, careworn but determined.

Loving the harmonica. The vocal is intimate in it's easy, laid back delivery. Really digging the guitar line and the bass is big and thick. Isn't it great when a fun lyric comes your way and you get something so cool out of it?

yesss love that harmonica! 😄 fun tune!

Loved this right away!! Love your vocals and that southern inflection!! so authentic!! I'm always impressed with the simplicity of just a guy with a guitar (oh and that sweet harmonica!!) . It's so hard to pull off and you nailed it. The lyrics are so relatable!! I've had my own southern circus events!! Awesome and humorous lyrics. Loved my listen!!

Yeah, sometimes a man blunders. Guilty. Nice collaboration, fellas. I think I understand the implications here and though it is delivered in a relaxed and smooth way, the message is quite frank and hits hard. Lovin' that harp and the choice to go spoken word at the end.

I love this! So unique and the lyrics are fire. Giving me Johnny Cash vibes. The storytelling impeccable and detailed, and the production pretty damn good. Favorite part: " Oh you know, it's a southern circus song." It flows really well rhythmically.
