Liner Notes

First one down! After months of barely creating anything it feels good to be back here.

One thing I got in mind for this FAWM was that I really wanted to do more stuff with my ‚Cosmos‘ device by Soma, so I grabbed it this morning, initially with another idea in mind. That didn‘t work though, so I started with piano and used the Cosmos for my voice - next thing I know, it’s 8 pm - The joys (and the downside) of being creative 🥲

I could have mixed some more, but I really want to focus on putting out ideas this year, as I will be working quite a lot until the last week of February. Also I feel I can even get ‚more‘ out of FAWM when I keep my inner perfectionist at bay and focus more on songwriting and arrangement.

Instruments: Soma Cosmos Nord Grand Fender Mexican Strat Moog mother

Lyrics

(Carefully) Whenever you feel That you have hit rock bottom Question yourself Is there a thought that you Maybe uncover Creating This hell Cause it‘s just your mind Keeper of times So whenever you feel That you have hit rock bottom Think twice Carefully

Stay carefully With your thoughts Carefully You create your own reality

So whenever you feel like You have hit rock bottom Look for yourself It is just The power of your mind Creating this hell

Dark and moody with a potent lyric. Love the blend of your instrumentation choices, thoughtful arrangement and vibe of the vocal. Powerful work indeed

Quite the intense background music and haunting melody that supports the vibe of the lyric.

Thanks a lot!

i feel like i am back at the fillmore and it is 1967 again. dancing in the strobe lights while a band i never heard of is exploring the ends of the universe with new sonds using as yet undiscovered technologies. it is a wonderful feeling, not at all related to the ideas in the music but only in the sound alone. now i am back in 2026 and i understand the mindset that creates infernos rather than paradisos. and the way out of this hell is, as the song suggests, through the mind. there was a time when we tought we could levitate the pentagon and exorcise the demons from it..but that was only fantasy. today, without all the delusional clutter of the sixtires, we might acturally succees in such an endeavoor. or at least we can levitate our minds above the clutter of lies that block the doors of perception.

A beautiful image 🤍 Thank you

@frostin

great singing and the sound you created really carve out an atmosphere to drown into. The high piano parts got me inspired

Thank you! Happy That I could inspire you

Nine minutes? NINE?? That's an entire day! Ok, it's not that long really. It certainly doesn't feel like it when I'm listening to this, I had to actually check I hadn't accidentally stopped the track! This really feels quite menacing, like something off the Downward Spiral. What's that pulsing sound in the final 90 seconds or so? It's so cool.

[pic]

My DAW has a bug apparently. Does this weird thing when I export the file to mp3 and makes the song appear longer. But for everyone it says a different length. I‘ll hopefully find a way around it. The pulsing sound is the moog mother :)

[pic]

Haha well now I feel silly and slightly vindicated! Funnily enough I wanted to mention the pulsing synth at "3-4 minutes" but when i checked back it said 8-9! Alas, it doesn't matter, it's great.

[pic]

Hahaha, time is relative :D

These lyrics speak to me, Jil. You know what's going on in my life and I ask myself often how much is just my dreaded perspective. I love your vocal harmonies and the slow thoughtful pace. Cello is great

By the way - why is your song 30 minutes long?

[pic]

Thank you so much! I often don‘t know where my lyrics come from, but they spoke to me a lot.

My DAW has a bug, I googled it and its quite common. I will try to fix it. Had the same problem last year.

@ayais

Love the kaplunk strat sounds. And the harmonies, and lots of other parts!

[pic]

Thanks a lot! Strats always have this bell-like sound which I like a lot.

[pic]

Haunting & beautiful. What a wonderful start to FAWM 2026. I really enjoyed all the all the piano layers. Awesome!

See You In The Shadows…

[pic]

Thank you, I‘m happy you enjoyed it :)! I‘m surprised myself here with this start

Intense and haunting are the words that come to mind. Great work layering everything, you created a specific otherworldly atmosphere of unease. Your vocal is so pristine, as usual. Beautiful song.

[pic]

Thank you! Thats really what I love to do, creating a bit of unease and haunting feelings :)

[pic]

I love the ethereal, spooky feeling this has. The revisitation of the "So whenever you feel / That you have hit rock bottom" line with different followups adds an enticing hypnotic quality. This would be right at home in the soundtrack of a pensive mystery movie, or maybe the first act of one of the modern Bond films. So good!

[pic]

Thank you :) spooky is good! Always love to create something eerie.

[pic]

So full and powerful, it feels like a movie soundtrack for the climactic scene with the key emotional change in a character's development. I really like this.

[pic]

Thank you so much!

[pic]

During the year when I'm thinking ahead with anticipation for another February, it's because of songs as good as this and talent as great as yours. Thank you again, my friend. Hugs and kudos.

@val

That sounds absolutely sinister! It's really compelling. Great deep tones and effects. The flangy/whispery double thing with the vocals is super cool. On the lyrics, I love the advice it gives, because we do have to realize everything happens in the mind. And oh my the things we create in there.

[pic]

Thank you! Oh yes, the human mind can really be a devil…as wonderful as it is to be creative with it

[pic]

Such an ominous vibe which i am really digging. I love the sparse arrangement. Your voice is sounding brilliant also.

[pic]

Thank you!

@sbs

And there she is - that ethereal voice capturing the imagination, the piano reminding me of "Cold As Ice" taking me to other worlds. Brilliant write! Btw, the time stamp says this song is 30 minutes long - there's really nothing after 4 minutes, right?

[pic]

You are the best :) Thank you so much! My DAW has a bug when I export songs as mp3. Have to find a way around that.
