Pay Attention

I’ve been sitting here pondering ‘bout things in my life. Realized, just lately, I’m weakened by such anger and strife. Where I once was hopeful, smiles filled with love and joy. I’m now consumed with so much dread and I’m constantly annoyed.

It’s time we pay attention, mourn the good that’s been lost. Every voice should be heard, besides them clucking at the top. Redefine what winners are, souls, gracious and humane. Not faceless, lawless raiders, filled with heartless distain.

Let’s build a better world, where, once more, we are free. Chase out the gull-darned fascists, they really, really need to leave. Cruelty and power... we can’t ever celebrate. Embrace our many differences, the things that really make us great.

It’s time we pay attention, go out and do what’s right... It’s time we pay attention, should be our only fight. It’s time we pay attention...
