had a hell of a time writing this one but glad i persevered cause i'm very happy with how it turned out! i like writing about bodies of water and i like using tremolo

Lyrics

River runs all over me And I'm holding him as he slips to the sea But I can't carry him with me So close to giving up, he makes me wanna give it up

And there's someone wrapped around his neck That starts just whispering to him when he least expects And when he stumbles from the wreck So close to giving up, he knows he's gotta give it up

And I'll dry myself off as I trip across his shore But I'll feel him in my hair, my ears, my nostrils, and my pores

River runs away from me And I'm holding something that he'll never see I couldn't carry him with me I had to give him up, I know I had to give him up

Really like this part "And I'll dry myself off as I trip across his shore". Nice build there. Love a water song, too. Maybe I'll write a love song for the James.

Water songs are life. Human bodies mostly water. Sensitive to minuscule vibrations…and the tremolo vibe definitely provides. Imagery in lyrics.. voice .. some emotive chords and progression of music. You have every right to be happy about this song.

I love the harmonies in the verses. There’s a balance of these water-personification lines (“holding him as he slips off to sea”/“his shores”) and more surreal lines(“someone wrapped around his neck”) that I think works really well. Love the ascending guitar towards the end too

yeah tick for tremelo! compelling intro, the 2 vocals layered are very effective. very evocative lyrics to top it off!
