a prayer in motion

Liner Notes
yesterday, The Walk For Peace's route passed near my home. Along with hundreds of others in my community, I went out to greet them and share support and gratitude.
It's not often that the monks leave the monastery for action like this; I saw this act described as "a prayer in motion," and that image stuck with me.
It's not in my usual milieu, but if my friend Steve could do a whole country album about Buddhism in the 90s (and he did!), I can write one folk song because I was inspired by two dozen monks and their dog. :-)
Lyrics
we all could use a little more mindfulness to find our center, to shake off stress especially when the world's such a mess whatever we can do to make progress
we'll walk for peace a prayer in motion step by step, from desert to ocean rain and snow, planting the notion that balance must be restored
it's not often that we're called to action from our chosen lives of quiet reflection our sandals worn, they still find traction a deliberate act to express compassion
we'll walk for peace a prayer in motion step by step, from desert to ocean rain and snow, planting the notion that balance must be restored
we don't do this for the world to witness but to use the power we find within us tread with purpose, deliberate stillness convictions and promises commit us
we'll walk for peace a prayer in motion step by step, from desert to ocean rain and snow, planting the notion that balance must be restored
A few dozen men and one good dog trekking thousands of miles carrying nothing but what the world provides drawing strength from your smiles
we'll walk for peace a prayer in motion step by step, from desert to ocean rain and snow, planting the notion that balance must be restored
Really great writing! I really enjoyed the imagery and my favorite bit was
we'll walk for peace a prayer in motion step by step, from desert to ocean rain and snow, planting the notion that balance must be restored
