Lyrics

The world’s on fire But I guess it’s always been Since we were divided By the color of our skin

The same old story For some fool’s glory How many have to die? Never again But it’s happening to a friend Right before your eyes Oh when will we ever learn?

The voices rise Like they always have When the darkness comes Bearing down again

The same old songs For a world gone wrong Just a poet and his pen Wont make it right But still we fight No this cannot be the end No it isn’t, it isn’t the end

The hesitant timing on "world's on fire" and "were divided" just kills me. Holy Joni Mitchell melodies in that verse, and throughout the whole song. It's way you pop so effortlessly into your head voice, and the way the contrasting low notes sound like a mini dirge in contrast. That faint yodel just retches the feels right of me. (don't think that's the right way to use that word, but I don't care) I am crying in front of my computer listening to this. Simply gorgeous.

Very nice! Lyrics flow well and melody fits perfectly with message.

The sad resignation of that first line is absolutely brilliant. Sweet melody and great words!
