Lyrics

I used to build houses so I could rent 'em out Now I build bridges Now I build bridges I build bridges and I burn 'em down

The Murphy name means something in this town My grandpa and his brothers were well known He build his reputation, he made his own luck And I painted his name on the side of my truck

I used to build houses so I could rent 'em out Now I build bridges Now I build bridges I build bridges and I burn 'em down

Grandpa Murphy had two sons Their kid sister? That's my mom My daddy died the week I turned 13 Grandpa Murphy took me under his wing

We used to build houses so we could rent 'em out Now I build bridges Now I build bridges I build bridges and I burn 'em down

Grandpa tried to fill a space for dad I never had the patience grandpa had I have a mean streak and too much pride Must've gotten it from my father's side

With his dying breath he wished me luck Now the Murphy name is all covered in rust My uncles, they won't talk to me, I bring the family shame Everyone from the bar to rehab knows exactly who I am

He used to build houses so he could rent 'em out Now he builds bridges Now he builds bridges

I used to build houses so I could rent 'em out Now I build bridges Now I build bridges I build bridges and I burn 'em down

Awesome performance and vocals. It pulled me right into the song. I liked the biographical nature of the lyrics. I was onboard for wherever you were taking me and the verse about grandpa landed hard. Maybe the last verse isnt needed, to allow you to keep the song short and impactful - but overall it works! - well done!
