Lyrics
Pretty Woman [Verse 1] The mirror stops me, in my tracks Turning away, wanting to collapse Who is that person, looking at me I don’t recognize her, how can it be [Verse 2] Tracing each line, feeling my age Did I let myself go, feeling the rage Feeling shame, with tears in my eyes Tracing my body, feeling my size [Chorus] Standing in the dark The scale hitting a mark Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by… Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by… [Chorus] Standing in the dark The scale hitting a mark Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by… Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by… [Verse 3] Feeling lost, I can never win Fighting so hard, just to be thin Beauty spirals, all in my head Meetings with the mirror, I always dread [Chorus] Standing in the dark The scale hitting a mark Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by… Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by… [Chorus] Standing in the dark The scale hitting a mark Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by… Tell me now, before I cry Am I still pretty, as I walk by…

A text that many of us can relate to, more more than less. Well-written, but so sad. I'd like to respond with a poet who said: viewed with love, everything is beautiful.
I love your response! I appreciate the feedback too!
Powerful lyric and it hit me hard - as a man I've dealt with this same issue for most of my life, at least regarding excess weight. And still after losing and maintaining a substantial weight loss, I feel the fear when I do my weekly weigh-in every Saturday morning!
Thank you for sharing your feelings around the song. Vulnerability is super hard; but helpful with personal growth. I thank you for taking the time to review the lyrics!
Whew! So many of us can relate to this! Great lyric and so sad, too.
