Liner Notes

#indierock #maudlinsongs If I were a performer or recording artist, this would definitely be part of my repertoire. It started as a one-take that ended with "but here one is." Then I thought: What if I made this a dance number? If I had some musicians, I would make it really long, bringing it up and taking it back around to the introductory part.

Lyrics

Here lies a body Not a representation Heaven sees Hope ignores Every seed run its course My love Heaven sees Hope ignores [You’re] as light as the whisper Rasping through my lips I'll not wait for your answer You can’t reach for my kiss Where your treasure lies there your heart is Thieves steal in But love meant leaving wide the door

We never liked maudlin songs But you knew I did We never liked maudlin songs But you knew I did You never liked maudlin songs But here one is

We never liked maudlin songs But you knew I did Oh, you knew I did

You knew I did

You've got no idea But you knew I did

If you make your own music, you're a musician! What else could you be?

And you're really good, because you have that special something that's hard for me to describe!

There's always an ironic cheerfulness in your songs, sung with a loving wink!

To be honest, I really love maudlin songs—especially ones like these!

I always find it hard to comment on your songs, I just connect with them on a very intuitive emotional level, just something about your vocals, but I think Bill nailed it with his Stuart Murdoch vamping on Reeds Walk on The Wildside

I think I know maudlin and then hear it in another way - one only unique to you. I'm happy @billwhite51 mentioned "Walk..." because I was like...what's that part remind me of? And yes, Stuart Murdoch - if you like the comparison. If not, I retract.

No where to hide with this lyric and delivery style and no need to either! its lie you change gear a bit to push the message home -very clever

the first half dispels the Ifs of the liner notes in favor of this is..and the last half sounds like stuart murdoch vamping on lou reeds walk on the wild side. i cant quite connect the halves even though i love them both and want them to stay together.
