Liner Notes

Thanks to @marychoate for the excellent prompt. I was trying to limit my political songs this year, but this one was too hard to resist. I'm old enough to remember seeing National Enquirer in the supermarket check-out line and thinking "Who reads this stuff?". Well, feeding the public a sticky-sweet solution of outrage and outrageous lies was apparently profitable enough for the money men to take notice. And bring us "reality" TV, a network devoted to fake news, and social media feeds tailored to cement our addiction to outrage. Nector of the Clods - drink up, my children! #skirmish #badfood #acousticguitar #guywithguitar #political

The deluge of drivel started years ago A A Asus A National Enquirer in the check-out line A Asus E E It was click-bait before we’d ever needed to click A A Asus A You could ignore it and still be just fine D A Esus E

Fast forward a bit, as the eyeball collectors A A Asus A Brought the concept to reality TV A Asus E E And then a network laid claim to balanced news A A Asus A Made it a 24-7 opportunity E E7 A A7

Chorus: Nectar of the clods D D Sustaining ourselves on poison D D A Asus A A Nectar of the clods D D Has us circling the flower of greed E! A Asus A A Give me more of what I don't need

(instrumental break) A Asus A A A Asus A A

It used to be that photographs seldom lied Before the Photoshop revolution But thanks to CGI and the latest AI The truth’s dissolving in a solution

Of toxic waste, and empty space To be filled with entertainment Social media feed is not what you need Unless you need to fry your brain (with)

Outro: We used to enjoy playing truth or dare A Asus A A But now forced to swallow the lies A Asus E E Drink my children, it’s not poisonous A Asus A A Just nectar of the clods in disguise. E E A Asus A A

This is great, funny and grim with an upbeat tune about rotten-ness! Really good use of the prompt.

A good thing about FAWM is it takes me away from incessant clicking! Good topical tune.

A clever angle to take on toxic diet. Very good!
