What Holds The Moon

Liner Notes
My friend and I were appreciating the romantic songs of the 1940s. She lamented that new songs could never be so innocent and starry-eyed. I replied that times are never simple, and in fact, many of those old songs were written by uncredited authors in cubicles in massive corporate office buildings. Not to strip the romance away, but if they could write those songs at desk jobs, so can we!
Lyrics
My moon My moon What holds the moon A bow A string Some magical thing
A lasso of stars Lightning in a jar What makes you stay Don’t go away
My moon My moon I look for you On blue Blue nights My lonesome light
Gravity’s pull Dyed-in-the-wool You could be free Why won’t you be?
What holds the moon?
My moon My moon Shines like a spoon Right there Right where You all can see
If heaven is here And fortune is kind Hold my hand Say you’re mine
What holds the moon

Wonderful chord progressions!!! Great playing and smooth spot-on vocals!! Great harmonies too.. I Really Really enjoyed this tune!! This feels like an instant classic!
I could hear this in a Steven Universe outro, it's so good Billy!!
beautiful. I've been listening on spotify since last year.
This somehow doesn’t feel contrived— tough needle to thread in this style. It has a daniel johnston kind of innocence to it.
Nice job buddy, sounds very cozy on the tascam
Luscious harmony!!! This is such a charmer! Absolutely lovely!
Beautiful lyrics and melody. So enchanting!
Man! Those harmonies are so dreamy.
Nice, great start to FAWM.

This is so beautiful! I love the lasso of stars image. It definitely has the feel of an older love song in the best way.
Such a great job catching a wonderfully vintage vibe! Kind of reminded me of "Tonight You Belong to Me"
