Better Suggestions?

Liner Notes

This one started life as a little melody/chords idea I recorded on my phone in December 2024. Not sure why it didn't surface in last year's FAWM - I guess it was pretty far down the spreadsheet!

With a new lyric idea, it got promoted... and here it is, song #2 for me this FAWM. Yes, I did have one Andrew in mind when I started, but I realise now there's another hard-partying Andrew this lyric could refer to!

Very rough recording - bass is programmed because that's generally how I compose these days, and I haven't bothered to rerecord it. Guitar was done after a few drinks last night, and the acoustic was so out of tune (about half a step sharp!) that I literally had to Melodyne it back into place. It's what the Beatles would have done if they could, right? Right?

Anyway, very rough recording. I did the vocal in about 20 minutes after a Costco run and before a school pickup run. Basic as. Wasn't sure it'd even work, but I think it does (or will, once recorded properly).

I also note I forgot to record the first chorus properly, so the lyrics here are slightly different to what's sung. I gotta get lazier and stop writing new words for each chorus.

Great production choices. That is how it’s done a perfect example of the pixies “loud quiet loud” playbook lots of cool changes and ear candy. Nice one!

i love all the modal modulation, and killer mix!! i'm really feeling the lyrics rn

I love it when you do these tracks with a touch of the Beatles. Guitars do sound huge. I love the little acoustic breakdown. Vocals are on point especially for a quick 20 minute job. Lovely chord choices

another kick ass track. very relatable lyrics. this has a little bit of blur vibe and a little bit of the rentals. very 90s sounding. i listened to this three times. nice work

This is such a pleasingly expansive wall of sound, I like how slow it is, almost march or procession-like, and the contrasting brightness of “why won’t you just die” is a delight! Awesome to hear your stuff!

Thanks! It's literally just a panned electric guitar with acoustic and bass up the middle, haha. But it works somehow! I love the idea of it being a 'march' - good idea for expanding the arrangement in future.
