My friend Megan asked me to write something in the style of The Cars. Daunting, but I'm always up for a challenge.

I was stumped at first, then it hit me. Megan has this thing where she'll text me photos of what's playing in her car when she's feeling it. I know other people do this too, but I love it. That's when I realized: the song isn't about The Cars. It's about Megan's car.

The chorus riff came to me soon after. I sang it into my phone, and everything else—the melodies, the words—just fell into place today. This was one of those gift songs. I still spent all day working on it, but the writing itself came easy.
