Arthur's Bonny Boat
by @danielkelly
Liner Notes
Spoiler It isn't a 'Bonny' Boat, it is pretty horrific.
Lyrics
G Come my lads to the bonny boat, C G To the bonny boat of the king, C G Am G And we shall sail the wine dark sea, C D G All deep and glistening.
But why are there no stores aboard, What then shall we all eat? For the journey’s long, our hunger strong, We have not bread or meat,
The bread and meat, he will provide, For the king is a generous soul, Have ye no fear, find comfort here, You will be safe and whole,
But why does this ship have no sail, How then shall we steer? And oars and rudder, there are none, What ship has not this gear?
This ship is by the Merlin set, And he shall guide its path, Through wind and wave, to harbour safe, Magic imbued he hath,
Then why children of May are we, What meaning could this hold, That on this boat the king would set, The youngest babe and old,
Questions more I’ll answer not, Til we are on the sea, Trust in the king, he did this thing, That Camelot may be free,
But when they passed the seventh wave, The truth it was them told, To wicked prophecy’s defeat, Was owed their murder cold,
For hell is where this ship sails, And hell is where you’re bound, Their wails rang out upon the deep, And no rescue was found,
Bur Mordred set his heart to stone, Too hear the news so grim, He would survive, and vengeance take, Against his fathers whim.

Thanks @taruamethyst, yes an Irish Bouzouki, sorry to hear you aren’t able to play anymore.
An epic ballad - such a pleasure to hear this - I'm a sucker for Arthurian mythology and you have added something very worthwhile here. A great melody too. Inspiring
Thanks @richardmasters, I read Malory at 16, I probably retained 15%, still lots to dig out of that tome.
Wow, I really like this tune. Is this aBouzuk? I am very sad that I can’t play a Bouzuki anymore. Also great storytelling and your voice is very fitting for this song
