Cimarron
Liner Notes
I live in eastern Oklahoma, but have taken many trips to the western side. It's a different type of people out there. The conditions are harsh and unrelenting. I tried to capture a bit of that in this song.
Lyrics
Where the Cimarron Runs Dry”
(Verse 1) Morning coffee is way too strong Farming dust all day long Pickup prayers and harvest rain Life out here is earned through sweat and pain
(Chorus) Western Oklahoma, wide and worn Where the land is dry and the roads are long You don’t leave without leaving some Where the Cimarron runs dry
(Verse 2) Red dirt city and a faded sign County seat, no hurry, no line Wind cuts sharp through the open land it’s something most folks wouldnt understand
(Chorus) Western Oklahoma, dust and sky Every goodbye takes its time Heart stays put even when you’ve gone Where the Cimarron runs dry
(Bridge)(strum) Storm clouds roll ahead like buffalo Thunder talks, but it never shows You learn to stand, you learn to fight You learn to work half throgh the night
(Chorus) Western Oklahoma, plain and true Not much said but it carries you If you’re lost, you’ll find yourself out here Where the Cimarron runs dry
(Tag / Outro)(Pick) Yeah, I’ll carry it till the day I die That endless line where earth meets sky Western Oklahoma, I was born again Where the Cimarron runs dry
Wonderfully sparse, like the land you describe. Farming dust all day long hits. I feel like I was visiting
