Inconsequential
Liner Notes
Starting off with—of all things—something that decided it was going to be a dose of #YachtRock. This is the first thing I've published which features my new Sire Marcus Miller 6-string bass, and I suspect you'll be hearing a lot more of it this week.
Two hours' work from start to finish.
Lyrics
I know you think the party's going well But you have failed to draw me from my shell There is no need for you to stand and wait I'll just sit here while I dissociate
I can't stop zoning out Don't think I need a place to fit And though I've put myself about I'm mostly certain that I ought to quit
Don't count my presence here In any way essential I'll just be in the corner Where I'm inconsequential
I see your friends are having quite a ball I don't do socialising much at all There are some things of which you can't conceive I'll count the minutes until I can leave

Holy cow, what an elegant and lush sound bed! It's like a dream inside a cloud in the valley just above a rain forest.
Hazah! I hear bluesier, smokier (yes, borrowing aural images from @chipwithrow ) Oysterhead or the Claypool Lennon Delirium. Chill and prog-y. Hints of Alan Parson’s Project too. Groovy. I just finished my first song for Sprint. Now i’s gotta make the video.
Unabashed fan of yacht rock here - yours is smokier, bluesier, and funkier than a lot of it. Sweet choice of instruments, and I totally relate to the lyrics. Kept waiting to hear Michael McDonald's background vocal.
I had to look very closely to make sure that wasn’t written by my husband. Sounds so much like him. But please enlighten me - what makes it #yachtrock?
Electric piano, soft synth pads, weird jazz chords, and oceans of reverb, mostly :-)
very cool!! such an interesting vibe, and the bass sounds like it's a blast to play. Great start to the sprint!!
Oooo yacht rock! I like the easy pace of this! Sort of play on loneliness in a crowd. I think i've been to that party! All the lovely touches i have come to expect from a headfirst song! Very nice song off the bat!
Ah, yacht rock - Rob Lowe’s favorite - lol! Super cool vibe here! Perhaps one of my favorites from you. Brilliant!
You have created quite an interesting soundscape here! I was sucked in right away and then ya just kept me there! Some really interesting lyrics as well! They make me want to give you a hug….but that would be weird right? Really cool tune my friend! Now I’m gonna go follow you as I don’t wanna miss any of your future offerings! Blessings!
