Liner Notes

I've spent the past week dealing with a nightmare situation involving critical medical supplies, staggering incompetence on the part of the company who provides them, and a never-ending series of phone calls and emails to customer service about it all. It left me exhausted and angry, but in the middle of it I got the idea for this song.

For those not familiar, "The Horrors" is commonly used in certain internet circles to mean more or less "all of these problems that keep happening, usually overlapping and often impossible to completely resolve". The idea of being able to put an end to these problems once and for all (both for myself and for everyone else) is really appealing even if it's not realistic.

Pulled out my octave mandolin for the first time in a few weeks and now my fingers are feeling it.

Lyrics

How have you been, you ask, well I ain’t been the best My body is failing and my mind is a mess But I’m gonna fight back, gonna end this misery I am going to kill the horrors before they can kill me

Chorus: Let's kill the horrors, kill them dead These circumstances piling up and filling us with dread ‘Cause things are going bad and they keep getting worse Oh let's kill the horrors so they don’t kill us first

Well half the news is bad and the rest of it is fake My medical supplier has made every mistake In the burning sunlight it is plain for all to see It is time to kill the horrors before they can kill me

(Chorus)

That all sounds good, you say, and you wish me success You’ve got your own horrors, you wish you could rest And I say that’s all right, let me tell you something true I will also kill the horrors before they can kill you

(Chorus)

this clever, timely, and personal...a rare thing to combine all three into a coherent and consistent song. the chous is terrifying in a fun, singalong way..but it also reminds each of us of the personal hell we are going through. so i guess you could call it a unity through pain song. or maybe it is enough to say"this is a good song. check it out."

I like the folky sound. Good idea for a song, meaningful and I am enjoying listening
