Liner Notes

Another prompt, “stars along the avenue” I felt kind of stuck about. Worked to unstick myself.

Writing #lyricsonly until I get some more time to myself.

Lyrics

I didn’t have her and I knew She like to float away Ice that’s melting, clouds that scatter In the heat of day

Stars along the avenue Flowers in the sky She pins night behind an ear It’s heavy and she’s light

Salt for the ocean Salt for the moon In a circle round the room Salt for cleansing Salt to guard Crying salt was never hard

I’ve seen through so many ghosts I hang around their homes Conducting seances and such They like to scream and moan

Salt for flavor Salt to melt I’ll tell you how haunting felt Salt to savor Salt to sell I can hear the music swell

Stars along the avenue Flowers in the sky She pins night behind an ear It’s heavy and she’s light

Really poetic and mysterious! The lyrics got their own rhythm. Hope you can put this to music. Very good!

I agree with kahlo below, the salt and pin lines are great. Such a bewildering and bewitching feeling concocted here of watching the uncontrollable with disconsolate eyes.

The salt adds such depth of flavor to this wonderfully concise poetic lyric. What a compelling hook in the chorus. “She pins night behind her ear” - yes!
