I got to my own skirmish late (is this becoming a tradition?) and then sat here listening to the fireworks. We're close enough to hear (but not see) the official Milwaukee fireworks, in the distance, but there's lots and lots of unofficial fireworks.

I sat listening for quite a while, just experiencing the sounds. Usually when there's fireworks, I'm focused on the visuals, but not tonight. Eventually, I opened the DAW and started recording. The official fireworks was a rumble in the background during part of this, though I don't think the microphone picked it up.

I played around with making and combining different tracks, and then added the vocal, with fireworks still going off (they are still going off now, though it's officially after midnight and no longer July 4).

The demo is all ready; we'll see if someone notices and gives me hosting power tonight.

Little children holding sparkers look up At all the pretty colors, we wonder why Why is it so noisy? Why is it so loud? Why can’t we have quiet sky flowers?

Mama says it’s time to head to bed But there are still pretty flowers in the sky And the world still booms and rumbles, it’s so loud Why can’t we have quiet sky flowers?

Sure, it’s long past dark, sure, we yawn But how can we sleep with all the booms? Even our cat is diving for cover Why can’t we have quiet sky flowers?
