Lyrics
I guess I never heard a song I dislike if I first heard it with you There’s a lot in there to unpack, I’ll let you work it through And the sun never shone so brightly as the day we met I’ve done many things in my life, but I have no regrets on meeting you
Like a summer’s day in winter, like the calm after the storm You make me feel there is hope in the world You make me feel I belong and I’m grateful It’s a wonder that we ever met, but I’m thankful every day
And we look at the world and we’re filled with wonder Let’s not get distracted by the things we can’t change The potential for good outweighs the forces of evil And the wheel spins round again to balance things out in the world
And they’re playing our song on the radio, or whatever they call it these days It takes me right back to the day that we met, I saw you through a smoke-filled haze It was a long time ago, but it feels like yesterday So glad that I met you, so glad that we found each other, and this is our song

I like the tension between the gentleness of the lyric and voice and the insistence of that tight guitar pattern. To me that made it feel like there was something the singer was trying to overcome - like this relationship is in past tense through death maybe. So glad you’re back.
You might need to write an adolescent live song called “Then off to the petting zoo”
