At The Edge Of Perception

#cinematic #dark #soundtrack #instrumental #minimalist #double_bass #alto_flute #plasmonic_synth_vsti My recent acquisition, a double bass, makes an appearance on this one! It's almost half a century since I last played one with a bow, so apologies for being a bit rusty on this one. Quite quickly lashed together with the intention of creating a brooding atmosphere. Please feel free to use the audio for your own projects (spoken word, video, whatever). Download link for the audio file is here: https://www.dragondreams.org/freebies/Dragondreams_AtTheEdgeOfPerception.wav Gimme a heads-up if you use it. 😀

I’m so jealous!!! I want a double bass. One day. Any chance you’d wanna send me a bass track to jam too? Maybe add something else after I get an arrangement together? No worries if not.

I love this. It’s so moody. The highs are how and the lows are perilous. You’re so talented man! This is so epic! I am but a worm in the presence of giants when you’re around!

Nice. Not what I was expecting at first. hints and flavors of Matt Uelmen (the instrumentation leads me that way). Glorious flute and low end! (Purposefully listening and not watching first run through- Spoilers!). Lots of mist and dark forest vibes. Maybe a cave or two. Cool. I could listen to a whole album in this style (you know, if that happens 😉). Kudos.

You are on a good roll! Sets the scene quickly with that ominous feel, so clean and clear. Darn good job with the bow as well! Very classy stuff

@datsch

Brooding, with a hint of steampunk … last time I played double bass was in the school orchestra, 1981 maybe, yeah I do miss it actually, the physicality and resonance. More arco, please!

Ooh, this hits right at the pit of the stomach where you can feel dread building up. That flute is just gorgeous.

Paul - I’m so glad you’re here. I like how the piece is filled with suspense, but it’s not the kind that feels like it will end in a jump scare. It made me think about all the suspense of every day life. All the not knowing. You turn that into something more exquisite than exasperating.

Thank you so much, Nancy! That's the feel I was aiming for with this one. So good to see you here too. :-)
