made just for me

Liner Notes
Let's face it, I'm a man of a certain age.
I was eight when a certain action figure line was released, and I loved it. This year we got a movie based on that beloved property, and I was here for it. If the folks in the theater with me are any indication, all of us who were there then were here for it now.
That said, I came to the realization that this was probably the last time anyone in the media industry was going to make something aimed directly at my particular demographic, which I understand completely, though I won't deny that it makes me feel a little old.
Lyrics
nostalgia is a thing of power year by year, hour by hour certain things still have a hold make you feel eight years old
adventures dreamt with plastic men adolescence, a kind of zen ads conjured up by algorithms pulls thought right back to dormant rhythms
skull-faced bad guys tossing quips epic music, campy scripts heroes facing overwhelming odds kick-ass powers, physiques of gods for two short hours, I feel free as if they made this just for me!
The castle and the sorceress in a bird-themed gorgeous formal dress the same off-color jokes we told images faithful, choices bold
nods to the life we've lived since more real than we'd care to admit but the story offers an escape both for the hero and people of an age
skull-faced bad guys tossing quips epic music, campy scripts heroes facing overwhelming odds kick-ass powers, physiques of gods for two short hours, I feel free as if they made this just for me!
we all know what's going on watching our world burn in real time we do our best to just hang on to what our childhood felt like...
skull-faced bad guys tossing quips epic music, campy scripts heroes facing overwhelming odds kick-ass powers, physiques of gods for two short hours, I feel free as if they made this just for me!
(fifty odd years and my life is still tryin' get up that great big hill of hope for a destination....)

The older we get, the less we need to keep our inner child hidden. It’s delightful that you had a chance to relive that joy from your past. And vague enough for many to relate. Thanks for reminding us all we can escape current challenges for at least two hours at a time.
Yes to nostalgia movies when they really land. The Barbie movie was like that before. Your lyric swings back and forth between the unleashed ethos of the eight year old and the regular everyday life of the grown narrator.
