Flower in the Sky

Skirmish: Flowers in the Sky (@wylddandelyon)Liner Notes
Late entry to the skirmish prompt “Flowers in the Sky.” I wrote a song 10 years ago for my wedding about how the state of elements can change, but the fire, water, etc stay the same. Love can persist but it must be allowed to change as people do.
Sh*tty phone demo for a somewhat clunky song about my messy life situation/feelings.

Lyrics
The function of things is to change Cardboard and powder Once lit can’t be unblazed And can’t not be on fire
You thought you’d catch a flower in the sky Press me in your pages That felt nice and warm for a while I wanted to be cherished like that
The function of me is to change I’m a chameleon You can’t see me the whole way Without an eye for motion
You thought you’d put my scales in a dish Dissect my colors Maybe I mistook interest For the care of a lover
So I came down from the sky Pressed into your pages I had love to give for a while Make you feel cherished like that
The function of things is to change You never knew me Now you want someone to blame Cuz that’s not how you drew me
You thought you’d catch a flower in the sky Press me in your pages That was just one moment in time Then there were changes
I’m not a flower in the sky I was always fire You can’t keep fire inside It will always burn or die

Oof. This is achingly gorgeous, friend.
Lots of honesty to this song, not just for you. The truth is no one ever really knows us, because we're always wearing various masks for each person we know. We're even hiding from ourselves, but at least recognizing the fire within is a good start. Lovely, intimate tune.
