Dry My Crying Soul

Liner Notes
Amanda was kind enough to take a chance on me. She sent her lovely, emotional lyrics in advance so I could get my thoughts together. Since I'm a mellow sort of fellow, Amanda's words were spot on for me.
Hope you like the result.
Lyrics
I loved the sunlight in my life Now it's gone behind a cloud Not sure that it will come back out To help me heal, to end the drought
All the colour left my soul I'm dreaming now in black and white How did it soak away so fast And leave me here in the dark of life
I need the power of the light To heal my heart to make me whole I need the power of the night To sooth my mind and dry my crying soul
I should have known that it would end Leave me lying in the dusk In my mind I cannot see Another way I could have loved
I need the power of the light To heal my heart to make me whole I need the power of the night To sooth my mind and dry my crying soul
Instrumental
I need the power of the light To heal my heart to make me whole I need the power of the night To sooth my mind and dry my crying soul

Greetings from North Bay to Oakville. Thanks for taking our song for a spin.
This is such a beautiful collaboration. I find I want to listen to it over and over. I particularly love the line about colors leaving the soul and dreaming in black and white. The melody and emotive vocals really carry the story along nicely here and the instrumentation is very complete for the vibe. Love the brass- the instrumental comes just late enough to be a lovely surprise. Hope this one has a life after FAWM!
Wow! You've certainly made my morning! Thanks for listening attentively and offering positive comments.
The chorus was great both musically and the strength of the words. I enjoyed the instrumental. Lovely collaboration!
I was wondering how the instrumental would be received, so I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for listening and commenting.
Lovely collaboration - the gentle flow of music with the gorgeous harmonies and cool bass. The lyrics reach into my heart with so many good lines.
Thanks, Liz. Amanda certainly gave me good material to work with.
Ooh that bass - hope to hear more of that. I love that the night and the light are healing - I’ve never heard that in verse together
Thanks for your kindness, Kendra. I was lucky to receive great lyrics from Amanda and that made it so much easier to complete the song.
Soulfully sung, sir. Love the emotion coming across from the guitar twiddles. The brass is a sweet choice. Brought a smile to my face. Thank you :)
I appreciate having you drop by for a listen to "Dry My Crying Soul". Glad you liked the brass choir, too. Thanks!
pretty good! evokes emotion
Melody stands up well as the instrumental section. "Power of the night" makes me think of "Phantom of the Opera" - not a bad thing
Thanks for checking out "Dry My Crying Soul" Ron. I see that you're going to do a song with Amanda, too. I look forward to hearing that.
Great collab to start! Great lyrics and mood!
Thanks for listening to "Dry My Crying Soul", Cindy. Amanda provided great lyrics to build on, so I'm a lucky fellow.
A beautiful collab. Paul, your delivery of Amanda's lyrics really make this song special and the instrumental... I'm a real sucker for french horns :)
Thanks, Corey. Bonus points for identifying the French horns. They're on the left, a clarinet on the right and a trumpet up the middle.
This is great. The lyrics are very moving. I like how you've taken the third verse line up in the middle. Great harmonies and WHOA that low note on soul - gorgeous.
Ah. thanks for the kind words, Liz. I was luck to get a great lyric from Amanda to work with. As for the lowest note, I get close and Melodyne adjusts it to make it work.
Wow! Was not expecting that brass ... quintet? for the instrumental. Lyrics are wonderful: "To sooth my mind and dry my crying soul" Really hits!
Thanks very much for taking the time to put "Dry My Crying Soul" on the turntable and commenting. The instrumental section had a French horn trio on the left, a clarinet on the right and a trumpet up the middle.
We all need a little light these day - communicated so well, in these lyrics. Sounds wonderful I love the low harmony on the chorus - adds, idk..some kind of gravity to the proceedings
Thanks for your kind response to "Dry My Crying Soul". The low stuff is done a phrase as a time because I couldn't do it continuously. Plus a little help from Melodyne to adjust a fraction of a tone here and there.
What a lovely expression of these heartfelt lyrics. Perfect collab. So beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed "Dry My Crying Soul". Thanks for the positive response.
What a great in-the-feels collaboration to start of FAWM. Nicely done to both of you.
