Lyrics
there's a deer with cinnamon eyes an ancient well of surprise there are mercury spills on indigenous lands angry gods with humorous hands
there's a dog with exceptional curls and atomic number of girls leading the march from a faraway bench reciting whitman in french
there's a puppet cooking itself in film apparently shelved you better unwind with friends in the cellar practicing musal impalement

Oof, that's some excellent picking, Pokey Lafarge vibes. Lyrics gave me ear to ear smiles, love the 'puppet cooking itself' line. Charming song!
lovely guitar keeping us on our toes, almost as much as the whimsical lyrics. the rhymester in me regrets the last/titular line. something like 'stellar'? 'propeller'? oh well. muse be damned.
It was certainly circling around to 'impale her'
I meant to say the surrealism here, it reminds me a little of Ween are you familiar with them? The contrast of a surrealist song combined with such an approachable melody, style, form, and guitar style is true artistry and listening perfection.
The playing here is epic, I wish I could play like that. This is a fascinating concept of a song I love how you alter the melody slightly in each verse and tell a story while still being abstract about it. I don't listen to a lot of folk, but I would listen to this. Thanks for sharing!
Great picking! This song just straight bowled me over, and all I wanted to do was get back up and stand in front of it so it could bowl me over again.
I love to the puppet cooking itself bit. Deep!
that guitar part is the coolest. and i really like he effect of a european flavored vocal delivery across a bluesy accompaniment. jacque brell meets mississipi john hurt..or something close to that ..and the lyrics are what makes the piece totally original. starting with a deers eyes, moving onto a dog's curls, and ending with a puppet cooking itself. it is quite the rustic domestic scene with urban sophistication.
Exciting what can be found in childrens drawings. Did she discuss her masterpiece with you?
surrealist for sure! lovely playing as always, i ljust let my mind wander around the lyrics and drown in the music! love it!
whoa.. that is some cool guitar. Love how you were inspired by a picture that your child showed you. The lyric "Angry gods with humorous hands" is really painting a picture. Great acoustic take.
