Let's Build A Bridge
Skirmish: Lights, Camera, Action! š¬ (@tarahenton)Liner Notes
The incomparable Tara Henton ( @tarahenton) set the Lights, Action, Camera #skirmish where we use a movie title to create a song totally unrelated to the movie. I chose a Danish series called Broen (The Bridge) where a body is discovered on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden. The body is half on the Danish side, half on the Swedish side, turning it into an international thing. Who has jurisdiction? Who will solve the case. If you haven't seen The Bridge, it's worth checking it out.
But, no murder story for me. Just two folks who have been rubbing each other the wrong way and needing to build a bridge.
Lyrics
Have you wondered why there's friction Why we chafe when we should soothe Instead of staring angrily We should find a way to move
Let's build a bridge Let's build a bridge that lasts between us Let bygones be gone, forgive and move on Today - let's build a bridge
There are times when we've been better But these days, it's been worse Instead of sparring verbally We should get out from this curse
Let's build a bridge Let's build a bridge that lasts between us Let bygones be gone, forgive and move on Today - let's build a bridge
I'm sure that we can find a way If only we try Instead of sparring constantly We should mend or say goodbye
Let's build a bridge Let's build a bridge that lasts between us Let bygones be gone, forgive and move on Today - let's build a bridge

Thanks Dave. I was quite surprised that I was able to write and record that much in an hour. 58 minutes, actually. Usually lyrics take much longer. Glad you had fun playing along.
You deliver the sentiment wonderfully, and I like that doubled guitar and your contrasting vocal here a lot. Nice job with the prompt! Based on your lyrics I would have never gussed the connection to a murder mystery series. haha
Thanks for listening. I hope Spain is treating you well. It's nearly noon here and -11C, so Spain would be an improvement for me.
I always double the guitar accompaniment. With the vocal and bass always in the centre, the doubled guitar gives it some stereo width.
If you have access to The Bridge, I recommend watching it. But wait till March. You'll be busy with FAWM this month.
Iām so pleased you took part in our skirmish today, Paul! Nice job! šš»
That was my first skirmish in four years. See where your leadership takes me? I had fun doing it, too.
A really positive song and I absolutely love the chorus.
Thanks so much!
Really love this lyric and the message you convey! Iām co-leading a course on bridging - so important, especially in this time! You develop and deliver the concept well!
Thanks for listening and commenting, Liz. It's great to have a friend in my corner.
Ive missed your voice Paul! a great skirmish write - with a really catchy chorus.
Missed you too, Celine! That's my first skirmish in four years of FAWM. Had to do it since the prompt was home grown.
I like your chorus a lot. A singable and memorable hook. The overall hopeful message hits for me.
Thanks very much, Jeff. I got lucky on the skirmish (my first one in four FAWM years). I managed to pump out the words in reasonable time. Once the words are in hand, the music comes easily.
Pleasant and peaceful! Voice of experience!
I love the positive message of connection going on here. Nicely done!
Thanks very much Trisha. That was my first skirmish in four years. It was hosted by my friend, Tara Henton, the founder of the We Write Songs community that I belong to, so I felt I should be supportive and give it a whirl.
Nice Job Paul! I was sitting here playing bass along with it and it took on a nice island vibe. Well spoken sentiment and very positive!
