Brooklyn

Liner Notes
This is most an excuse for some modal lead noodling.
I've never written a song in Ab Dorian. Now I have. That's kinda neat. A bit self-indulgent, but neat.
Single take on the lead. Mostly improvised, outside of the themes.
Lyrically, not actually about Brooklyn. Though I haven't lived there. So, it's both truth and metaphor? I don't know, songwriting is hard.

Oh wow, what an intro! Got me grooving there, mister! So good!
Repossessed is a great bit of word selection given the theme. The chords are lovely and Dorian riffage was most definitely achieved. Very cool tune
I never expected dorian to sound so funky. Everytime I pick this mode I end up doing some bard music. The lead is super cool, especially against the dark calm voice. Back to the 70s.
It almost sounds like a 1970s American television detective series theme. I can hear Tony Baretta sing this. 😀 Nice one.
I wouldn't know what Ab dorian was if it just smacked me in the face. Oh, wait. It just did... But it does seem to evoke a feeling of longing that suits these words very well indeed. Also digging very much the "what if the Sisters of Mercy had been a disco band instead of a bunch of amphetamine-laden goths" vibe.
beautiful funk with an hooky, enticing lead! just a joy to listen to front to back >:)
Please take very excuse for modal lead noodling because this is spectacular, it's so laid back but incredibly free and interesting, you're taking me through a lifetime or two. I like the contrast between your voice and the words playing more of a part in the rhythm section leaving the guitar voice free to do the emotional part of the talking. Really great!
Love the lyric. Short and sweet. Interesting imagery coupled with playful self-reflection. Vibe and groove of the interweaving instrumentation is hypnotic. Congrats on your Ab dorian accomplishments :)
