Liner Notes

I hosted a fundraiser gig yesterday and there was a small drama over one of the music stands at the show. Like so much music equipment used in public, it went home in the wrong car one day many years ago. The old owner and new owner met.

Luckily it was resolved in a beautiful and caring way for all and the music stand with the seahorse painted on it made it back home.

This song is that story.

It got its start with a twelve-string man Went to the island with his band with a seahorse on its back Was A sturdy musical rack

Then it was lent away Left behind that day (oh no)

Never to see again The twelve-string man

The seahorse had caught the eye Of a graceful belle who rang by It seemed so lonely there Like it had no one to care

Egged on by the soundman It went home in her van

It journeyed from stage to stage Holding up page after page Helping many to share their gifts all along it was missed

Until January came to an end Graceful belle ran into the twelve-stringing man

Word got around that it was going down But graceful belle saw her error now And so in front of the whole crowd Returned the seahorse with a bow

Rejoined the twelve stringing man a new journey across the land (oh yeah)

Reunited again With the twelve stringing man

Great entertainment! Reminds me of a track from Becks record " One foot in the grave ". I bet the music stand in question has some additional mojo that it absorbed from the journey ! Dig it!

Great listen and cool story. The dissonance of that kazoo melody was brilliant against the driving chord progression. Especially interesting on that major lift.

Agree - the kazoo is very underutilized, although I've been known to pair it with my uke at times :-). Love the storyline of the lyrics about a real situation. Your rhythmic performance is head-bop worthy. Nicely done!

I reckon the kazoo is much underused in music generally. So many unusual words in this story, which caught my ear. And the rhythm matches the story really well :)

This is awesome. The journey of the music stand is unexpectedly captivating. The whole vibe of this is truly excellent. Like a classic epic style. I could hear a band rocking this with the kazoo.
