Liner Notes

A slow but rewarding banger, that saves the dopamine hit for the last minute. A song about dissociation and trauma. This is a more produced song because this demo is in process for my album. Real drums going on the track in a few weeks and then mastered and released by April hopefully!

Love the slow burn of this groove. It's got some serious mojo. Really love the tones and production choices. That bass is tasty too. Well done.

Thank you I'm so glad you liked it! This one will be coming out in April in its finished form. Please consider following me on Spotify if you want to hear what it sounds like. :)

Nice. Overall good melodies.

Thank you for your feedback!

I second the comments comparing it to Radiohead. I love that guitar pattern! If this is the song "Pre-Real Drums" I dunno what the real thing is gonna sound like. Jealous of that tight kit sound, as a poor dude who has to settle for MIDI or fake keyboard drums, that's some great stuff.

Love the build up to the ending, your falsetto is wonderful. Glad to have found your work this year!

Yes this drum loop was created from another artist so it's technically a sample, it will be replaced with real drumming soon! Thank you for listening!

This is awesome! That dreamy, reverb-drenched vocal line sounds superb and it fits perfectly.

I like songs that are able to do a lot with a few words per line, while still using the arrangement and space to make it sound huge. This is a great example. It's something I struggle mightily with, so I admire it when others pull it off so well.

The "pretend to be there" refrain is a very cool lyric. It's deceptively simple, but has infinitely more depth and weight after you realize it's a sort of dissociative mantra.

Very cool piece of music. Following to hear more.

I appreciate the thoughts on the lyrics. I took a songwriting class last year and they often insisted I say more, describe more, but for me, my writing, and the style of music I listen to this is what works. My favourite kind of song is one that leaves it super open ended and you can put your own interpretation in there. I can't remember who said this, but it was something like "the audience completes the art". I believe strongly in that.

Cool Radiohead style heavy reverb vocals. This has a lovely laid back groove and shifts along very nicely indeed. The oohs at the end lift it really well for the outro. Great stuff.

Haha you got me! Huge radiohead fan sometimes the influence becomes more obvious than others. Thanks for listening!

Great vibe and melody. Sweet production to boot. Look forward to hearing more.

Thanks Mark!

Oh man, I really love these lyrics. The vibe is giving me early (read: good) Foo Fighters. Is that an ebow near the end?

[pic]

Thank you! At the end it's a logic patch ran through some effects. It was intended to provide a context for my lead guitarist who will be laying some textural stuff on this, but I really like it I might leave it in!

First thing I hook into is the chordal texture added by the minimal bass. This combination sets up a tension that drives the 'narrative' of the music forward into new parts. The solo instrument near the end is also a unique choice - was almost expecting a harmonica, but it's often better to surprise the listener. Is it scratching on piano strings? Violin?

Thanks I'm glad you picked up on the interest in the bass part. Landing on the low E in the chorus is rather unexpected and totally carries the chorus. The thing at the end is some sort of heavily effected logic patch that will probably be replaced by guitar (my lead guitarist hasn't had his way with the textures on this yet haha) but actually it might stay because I really like it. Thank you for listening!

Very pretty melody, and I really like the groove of it.

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it.

Cool vocal effects, it feels shimmery, like calling out over the hot summer sand and having your voice reflect back to you. Such a vibe. Amazing upper vocal range in the outro!

Thank you "vibe" is the exact word I'm going for in this one. Appreciate you listening to the end, I'm not convinced I need to go so high in the end... but I can if I want to haha. We'll see!
