Liner Notes

This is a response to the #dailyprompt challenge.

Head cold went away enough now that I can sing! Have a demo track.

Lyrics

V1 The water of a flowing stream The story of a quiet dream The pathway of the Tower’s Beam That’s what keeps me going

The tales we are so often told The glimmer of a sunset’s gold The bolster of a hand to hold That’s what keeps me going

CHORUS That’s what keeps me going That’s what keeps me here That’s what keeps me knowing That’s what keeps me near That’s what keeps me giving That’s what makes me live The stories and the poems and the songs That I can give

V2 The music of a small bird’s song The fable that runs oh, so long Community that makes us strong That’s what keeps me going

Discovery of something new And creative things to do Knowing we can see this through That’s what keeps me going

CHORUS

V3 My lovers and my friends and kin The stories that I live within This crowded, lovely, happy din That’s what keeps me going

My family, my friends, my love The stories that I’m singing of The starlight in the skies above That’s what keeps me going

BRIDGE Connection, interaction with my friends The way the conversation never ends Understanding all the whats and all the whys Marveling at what’s before our eyes

V4 Storytelling with my speech and song Shining light to right an awful wrong Even though the journey will be long That’s what keeps me going

Searching for a new and better way Living now to give another day Raising spirits up to join the fray That’s what keeps me going

CHORUS

OUTTRO They’re all that I can give

Way to spike that gratitude ball! We all need a reason to get outta bed sometimes. Well done!

[pic]

Thank you, sir. I guess it is kind of a spike of the gratitude ball, isn't it? Glad you got something out of it.

Aww I love this! What a great list of little joys as a response to this prompt, and presented so beautifully. I always end up singing along by the end of your songs, and this one is no exception. :)

[pic]

Oh, what a great compliment, kiraly! Thank you so much for that. I'm glad you had that experience with my music.

@wacha

This song has such a great message and your delivery lifts it up even more. What an absolute gem of an uplifting folk song, something we could all use a bit more of these days.

[pic]

Wow, thank you. I'm glad this reads as a folk song to you; that was kind of my goal.

[pic]

What a lovely message, and sorely needed these days. I like your melody and your vocal delivery. It's not always easy to pull off AAAB rhyme schemes and you nail it throughout.

[pic]

Anything is possible with rhymezone dot com :D Thank you, TC, seriously. I'm glad the song lands well for you.

the lyric paints a picture for sure! good to hear hope. Nicely delivered through that strong guitar line and easy listening vocal!

[pic]

Thank you! I'm glad it's bringing people hope.

[pic]

This is really lovely - I love the images and the positive inspiring message. Great sound with lovely vocals and great strum.

[pic]

Thank you so much, kahlo. I appreciate your thoughts.

[pic]

Oh I really love this sweet song. Verse two with the simple joys of life, that really resonated with me. Thanks for the positive and earnest listen 💚

[pic]

Thank you. I'm glad it made you happy. :)

[pic]

What an incredible infusion of hope. Thank you.

[pic]

Wow, thank you. I guess this is going on my next folk album, for sure.

[pic]

Happy to hear that you are keeping going, via whatever means of hope necessary. This song is very soothing, thankyou @dr_griff!

[pic]

I appreciate your thoughts, Daniel! Thank you too! I hope to bring some hope to others, and it seems from the comments that I've managed that here.

[pic]

This is so lovely! The sentiments are so sweet and a really enjoy the rhyme scheme. Please let me know when there's a demo!

[pic]

Demo's up!

[pic]

That is a sweet one, follow the Beam for what choice do we have? We must find the Tower…back to it though, the words keep rolling forward in a rhythm which makes me say 3, or rather 6/8, may be the time signature?

[pic]

No, it's in 4/4. Once I have my voice back, you'll get a demo.

Edit: Demo's up!

[pic]

Nicely done Griff. Especially love the bridge.

[pic]

Thanks, Mark. I can't wait to have my voice back so I can record the demo. :)

Edit: Demo's up!
