01. Opener (One Last Time)
Liner Notes
FAWM 2026! Great to be back for my 3rd year, with a new idea that's been gnawing at me the entire time since last FAWM.
This year is the 5th anniversary of being with my partner in crime, my best friend, my rock. In the back of my head, I always knew that she deserved an entire project just for her, beyond the odd songs here and there that would just naturally pour out in albums that were "about" something else. This, though, is for her.
I started recording the music in December, because I knew I wouldn't have the time and energy this month of February with work to give it an honest shot. Most of the lyrics and vocal recordings have been between December and now, so while I may not feel right in calling this 100% FAWM music, I also know that I wouldn't have been able to do this without careful planning and time management.
The rest of this project was designed to not faff about (too much) and just get it down to the essentials: my girl ain't no Pink Floyd fan. I'm doing short and I'm doing as sweet as I can be while also mixing in some garden variety sadness.
I'm going for poppier songs (within the realm of having no budget and production of course), because I want stuff that she will actually want to listen to beyond "Oh hey, guess this is about me!"
My musical-listening diet has altered thusly; Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift and Panic! at the Disco. 2000's pop punk. Theatre kid music. Now, the end result will likely not sound anything like that, but know that my heart was in the right place, and these songs will be my version of "bops", as the kids say.
With some moody stuff thrown in there too, of course.
As for the track, it's simply a quiet ambient intro before the meat and potatoes of the project. I'm not an expert with Ableton, but I feel comfortable making half-decent ambient pieces in it, so the majority of this track was made there.
Anyways, thanks for reading if you did. Happy FAWM everyone!!!!

This is so beautiful!!!!! I love all the swells and details. Like you're painting with sound, there's so much life! Absolutely stunning opening!!!
Epic Epic Epic. A proper opener. Now I'm hyped for the rest of the album.
Wow this reminds me of Bon Iver for some reason mixed with Sigur Ros in all the best ways. Gorgeous piece.
I think @innerspear nailed it. Bon Iver meet Sigur Rod, but still very much you. I look forward to hearing what you create for your love.
