bring doubt into the plain moment

my first attempt at using the #FAWMCards!
a #LoFi #PostRock #TripHop #Instrumental, i guess? i took the photo below to post in the forum thread about the cards, and decided to try these...

- i started with a korg volca beats programmed from rhythm motifs on the cards. recorded that at 90bpm, muting parts to define song sections.
- used a mellotron strings + vibraphone patch to play some chord progressions i liked, using up all 10 chords on the cards. but i'm actually playing it via MIDI using an omnichord (i'd never tried that before)!
- added some "live" drums using ezdrummer3 for some dynamics.
- played my acoustic u-bass. did about 5 passes and comped together the best parts of those takes. (everything else was one take.)
at this point i realized there was no way i was going to be able to sing to this, what with all the key changes that i don't even understand. 😬 thus, i decided to make it an instrumental. soooooo....
- played a microfreak synth lead part during the bridge, through a chroma console pedal for extra wonkiness.
- finally, added 3 jazzmaster guitar parts, also through the chroma console (with no amps or emulators), all first takes.
quick headphone mix job, and calling it done.
i didn't end up using the suits, melodic motifs, or oblique prompts in any creative way. next time! this was a fun first foray into using the cards; i would NOT have come up with this just by noodling around from muscle memory...
title is a mashup of all the cards prompts.
Oh maaaan, the mellotron is delightful. And the delicious verby guitars. Every new instrument feels like a happy new friend walked into room at a party. And the bass is like a an attentive sheep dog making sure everyone is getting enough snacks and drinking enough water. This is wonderful
