Liner Notes
I love playing cards and I love songwriting prompts, so I was delighted by @burr's #FAWMCards challenge. I repurposed a deck of cards I had lying around and wrote the prompts from Burr's deck on them, and then pulled three to write this song:

I pulled a Joker ("sculpt negative space"), the 9 of Clubs ("invert your biases"), and the 7 of Hearts ("hold your breath"). I immediately drew a connection between negative space and holding breath, so that's where it started. I mostly leaned on the verbal prompts on the cards for this song, but I'm excited to see how else I might incorporate them in the future!

Lyrics
We are biased When in doubt we sit in silence Maybe we could listen to the science Instead of giving air to sycophantic liars
And we'll be just fine If we can get out of this timeline Where the powerful and rich pretend That facts are something they can bend
Hold your breath Now let it out and take a rest It's true that we're not at our best When it feels like everything's on fire
And we'll be just fine If we can get out of this timeline Where the powerful and rich pretend That facts are something they can bend
Comments
Those prompts really came together perfectly with both the negative space and holding breath. I agree with the sentiment that sometimes we just need to pull back and take care of ourselves when the world's on fire
Great meditation on facts and how they function (or do not function!) politically right now. Cool use of the cards!
Lovely stuff once again. You really had me at the first verse. Love your voice and your expression of the lyrics. Really enjoyed this.
