thank you o much for your spot on comments for rogue administration. they support my declaration that I do not write and sing white boy blues. you know what kind of blues im talking about. whereas the african american blues artists each ha their original style, the white boys all sound alike. but i see the blues, while it originated with african americans, as evolving into a universal genre, but just like the other genres, each artist has to find their own voice. after 50 years of singing the blues, assimilating and copying, i am getting near to fininding my own voice and i find it in what i am singing about more than in vocal affectations, although i draw upon them as much as i do when singing country or rock and roll. but it is in the lyrics that we discover our originality. i am not going to be drinkong muddy water and sleeping in a hollow log so im not going to put tjhose images into a song...which is what so much white boy blues is comprised of. abd its popularity sidelines a lot of alternate expressions of the blues. when i lived in charlotte, i attened a blues festival. a huge crowd had turn out to hear blues scales played at breakneck pace on electric guitars. but meanwhile, in a small cafe nook, a dozen or so people gathered around some down home musicians with acoustic guitars, most of them not even in turn, playing some real down home music. real blues. like the kind you only hear on old records that never had any radio play.
