We have a toxic bogan garage rock band called Awful Boyfriend. So far we have mostly played Creed covers, but the fans want more so it's finally time to hear what Awful Boyfriend has to say - this is our first original!

Massive disclaimer that this is a couple of gays making a joke, and we do not condone being an actual Awful Boyfriend this guy sucks.

The idea for this song has been sitting in the notes app for ages, after we were aggressively overtaken by a boy racer car with the numberplate "DEVIL" on a late night drive through rural Wairarapa NZ, and it spun out into a kind of bogan version of the infamous deal with the devil at the crossroads. Sorry if the NZ slang (and accent) is incoherent.

@theodamus: Absolute dream to finally bring this to life and for this one to be the first out the gate for FAWM 26! We threw the gist of it together really fast yesterday and then I decided what it really needed was for me to pick up and try playing a bass for the first time in my life, so i took a bit longer. Ibanez bass that my mate left at my house, Epiphone Les Paul guitar, placeholder garageband drums and some built in presets because my flash plugins aren't working. Lead guitar line will have to be later!

@hidalgo: It made it out of notes app purgatory and I love it. It's fun and dumb and noisy and once I got past the horror of hearing my own voice on a recording I really enjoyed the process. Thank you to Theodamus for the technical prowess and shepherding a noob through the process. Honoured to be a FAWM collaborator xx.

I feel like I just got a crash course in Australia, filling in all the stuff they didn't have time to cover in Bluey. This brought me a big grin, love the grunge and harmonies on the chorus. Hilarious write and loads of fun to listen to

I think we've all seen that driver. Being a truly old soul middle aged guy, I just ignore them. But I didn't ignore this song. Nice energy and vigor to it!

Oh my God, I saw the East Coast wave at the (nod). That was fucking impressive. How did you even do that through the medium of song? This is the best use of a rest in a song, like, ever. You should be proud.

And, speaking of pride, the sheer State-Highway-2-boganness of the thing made my chest well. I felt like this is the song of my people. I felt seen. Despite the fact that, in reality, I can't stand these people.

Now that I've seen you rock out on YouTube, I can picture this one in my mind - fully expecting a video when it finally makes its stage debut. Well done on the bass too!!!! Maybe we can do an all bass song together. This rocked hard. Very fun

Oh man, this is killer. This perfectly captures the vibe of the stuff that first got me into indie punk stuff in the 80s. Everything fits right where it needs to. Love love love.
