ICE OUT (The ICEholes song)
by @johnstaples
Liner Notes
I'm angry. I'm sad. I'm embarrassed. I'm disgusted.
And this is NOT political!
It stopped being about political differences when a large group of people in my country decided they were just fine with HATE and RACISM and XENOPHOBIA and MISOGYNY and HOMOPHOBIA and BLATANT CORRUPTION and PEDOPHILIA and on and on and on!
You think it can't possibly get any worse and then the felon in the Whitehouse threatens to invade a NATO ally. And then the masked ICE Brownshirts start MURDERING citizens in the street. And the Epstein files start dropping showing STRONG EVIDENCE that trump was likely RAPING CHILDREN.
And how does the MAGAt crowd react? Mostly CRICKETS. FFS what will it take to stop this MADNESS? Certainly not my stupid ICE OUT song but at least writing and singing it made me feel just a tiny wee bit better.
Lyrics
ICE OUT (The ICEholes song) February 01, 2026 https://johnstaplesmusic.com/FAWM2026/JohnStaples-ICEOUT-ICEholes.mp3
in a family neighborhood ICEholes murdered Renée Good she dropped her kid at school then she was shot by ICEhole ghouls
Liam Ramos 5 years old bunny ears out in the cold kidnapped by ICEholes reckless they trafficked him to Texas
ICEhole punks with guns and masks kissin' trump's decayin' ass spreadin' terror in our streets while that pedophile just tweets makes decent people shout ICE OUT! ICE OUT!
they executed Alex Pretti in the heart of that great city ICEholes shoved a girl, he stepped in so they shot him again and again
ICEhole punks with guns and masks kissin' trump's decayin' ass spreadin' terror in our streets while that pedophile just tweets makes decent people shout ICE OUT!
but the day will come at last when we defeat ICEholes and MAGAts we'll disarm them and defang them and we'll send them all a packing
ICEhole punks no guns and masks wishing trump could save their ass they'll be rotting in our prisons while that pedophile declines and decent people shout ICE OUT! ICE OUT!

With the creativity of all of us combined, we can beat these @ssholes! Thanks for taking the lead! Great song!
Holy mandolin - wowza! "ICEholes" - good one! Also "MAGAts". It is hard to cover this many atrocities so concisely, cleverly and in rhyming stanzas - but you totally did. Your chorus is just golden. Love the bridge too. A really well done song that sounds great and has such an important message.
A quality song in the finest folk tradition! Great lyrics, wonderful mandolin, nice vocals. You paid a heartfelt homage to Renee and Alex.
Vocals are really good. Is that a mandolin - nice. Very good lyrics. A very polished song. Well done. ICE out!
Chills. It's maddening to see everything that's happening - it's not political, like you said. This is human. It's about all of us. Beautiful mandolin on a song that makes you feel both sad and angry, and personally helps remind me there's still lots of good people in the world who want to end the insanity we're seeing.
To be frank whatever you write comes out as a good song! Your message comes out loud and clear. Music protest should never be under estimated whatever your political views or persuasion.
I'm completely outraged as well and even having nightmares about this shit. Just wish this all really was a bad dream. I like the word "ICEhole." I'm planning on adding that one to my vocabulary. Love that mandolin playing as well. You make it sound so effortless.
Great work. Always good to have protest songs that are so catchy.
Love the mandolin on this song. The melody and lyrics are spot on, too. I think "icehole" is a great term, blending ICE with what we think of them.
100% bang on! How the hell did such despicable behaviour become somehow legitimate in 2026? Oh yes, that disgusting miscreant, Drumpf (which in the original German means a bent or crooked person) how apt! Brillantly written and performed (up there with the Boss, I reckon).
I see you Johnny Cash meets the wolfe tones, hell yeah man
Every single line of this one is great. Thank you for writing it. ICE OUT.
Thanks for dropping this into the Topical song thread. I love your musical setting. But oh my heart broke again at each narrative even though I've been marinated in these stories. I can't look away. Is this really who the USA is? Thanks again for this song.
Very important song as the world gets harfer and also watches what happend. All the Voices are so important .
Nice work and great lyrics. Keep on sharing your experiences with injustice. That's something we can definitely do.
well done! many of us have been writing about this stuff, myself included (I have yet another one, reggae-style, I'm starting to work on right now) and this is a fine addition to the canon of these songs we all wish we didn't have to write. keep on doing it! You have some killer couplets here, and the music flows easy and melodically (curious, did you play everything we're hearing live? sounds really well mixed and that mandolin in particular is recorded really well)
Wow!! What statement!! What an amazing set of lyrics...truly phenomenal, all the facts, all the horror, all wrapped up in an americana package filled with banjo and sincere, excellent vocals. ICE OUT is an instant classic... protest song extraordinaire. The entire population of this country should sing this anthem loud and together until those ICEholes and their orange supporter are GONE. Bravo John, Bravo
YES! It's just wonderful to listen and agree! BRAVO
Thank you, Cindy!
I remember many protest songs from last year’s FAWM, and it was hard to imagine things getting worse. Silly me. The song really captures the anger that many are feeling. I like the abrupt change to the major key chorus, which leads beautifully back to the minor verse.
Thanks briggs!
Phenomenal stuff. I just wish you didn’t have to write this song. Watching from the UK has been baffling, terrifying and heartbreaking. I just hope the country can heal at some point. Great song performed perfectly. Nice work
Thank you, Matt!
Moving and pretty tune at the same time. Thank you.
Thank you, Leslie!
Read the lyrics before pressing play and did not expect such cheery music to accompany them. Very good protest song full of good points and truths. "spreadin' terror in our streets, while that pedophile just tweets" is my favourite line. As always, wonderful production, vocals and instruments. That part you have down so good I don't even know what to say anymore.
