I thought these sounded like surprisingly cheery power chords, and then I remembered that the Dead Kennedys often wrote music that, in another context, with different lyrics, could almost have been described as "poppy". Well, if you squinted hard. So anyway, hard yes to all of this.

Wow! This hit me hard right from the beginning. Love the driving guitar and the bass line slaps. I 100% agree with this statement. Way to put the feeling of the lyrics with the music.
